Peacefully, at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Courtland, with his wife at his side, Ross Hazen passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the age of 90 years. Survived by his wife Violet Hazen (Mills), 8 children Linda Sandercock (Renee), Mary Lou Long (Blake), Joe VanRietvelde (Tina), Gordon Silverthorn (Lisa), Don Silverthorn (Cindy), Debbie Knetchel (Larry), Wendy Sobers, and Elmer Silverthorn (Sandy). Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Harvey and Maude. Ross grew and cured tobacco for his farmer friends for many years in the local area. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221), on Wednesday September 27, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon The funeral service for Ross will follow the visitation and be held in Ostrander’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 12:00 noon.
